Miranda The Avion - Dining Area

So since I posted about the Dining Area Cushions yesterday I felt like the next area of focus should be on the dining area itself. I admit at first I wanted to take out the table and put in a couch or more of a sitting area. Before purchasing Miranda we had a pop-up camper (that we also remodeled). In it we removed the table to give us more room. And in all honesty we didn't miss it. We liked the extra room and besides we tended to eat outside so we didn't need it.

But Miranda was 34 foot long.... that's plenty of room.... so maybe we would enjoy the dining area....

So we decided to give it a try with the dining area and decided if we changed our minds we could always remodel it later.

Later in my mind meaning never in Dustin's mind.

First the dining area got a fresh coat of paint - along with the rest of Miranda but that's a story for another day.

But what about that table?

It needed an update to.

How about butcher block?

This is the part where I love that Dustin goes along with my crazy ideas!

Here are a few camper remodels I drew inspiration from (click the picture to visit)

If we are going to do the table in butcher block how about the kitchen counters to.... I may have been pushing my luck here but Dustin agreed that it would look amazing and came home from Lowe's one day with the supplies.

Once we had the butcher block I set to staining it. My go to stain color is always Early American. I could have probably went with just one coat of stain but I went ahead and did two. I also stained both sides of the table.

I mean isn't it beautiful!

Now that the benches were painted (and the new flooring was laid) we were ready to finish the area up!

Time to trim around the benches!

When making the cushions and studying Allie's camper remodel over at Proverbs 31 Girl I loved how she had trimmed her benches. I loved the contrast! Dustin and Maddie agreed they liked the look also so we decided to try to incorporate them into Miranda.

The trim boards were also stained in Early American. I loved the way the stained wood looked next to the blue of our benches and the white of the walls.

Now let's talk table legs or supports.

We had looked for table legs and found these awesome ones on Amazon:

For less than $20 these were a no brainier!

And just look how good it came together!

NOTE: When traveling we do remove the table top and lay it in the floor.

With redoing the dining area and replacing the table we are no longer able to turn this into another bed. But if we decide later on that we want to be able to turn it into another sleeping area we will add braces on the benches to lay the table down on.

Here are a couple pictures of prepping the dining area:

Maddie our little/big helper painting the dining area.

Miranda The Avion had these black strips which almost felt like Velcro. And let me tell you they were not the easiest to remove!

Goo Gone and a little.... ok maybe a lot of  elbow grease and it was finally off!

Stay tuned for more on a remodel!
