Now that the outside of the fireplace was done it was time to give the inside a facelift. This was a pretty quick and easy project. First, I cleaned the interior with the shop-vac and then wiped it down with a multipurpose cleaner.
Since we use gas logs in
the fireplace we needed a heat appropriate paint. I had decided to go with black
for the interior, so Dustin picked up a heat resistant paint for our project.
The worst part of this
project was the strong smell of the paint. This stuff was much stronger smelling
then your typical paint so make sure to open the windows. It also took several
coats to give a full coverage look.
Overall though it was an
easy project and made our fireplace remodel complete. I love the look and can’t
wait for colder weather to see this baby in all her glory!
My Little helper was not as impressed as I was with this project....
Here is a finished picture of our fireplace with the lower trim and mantle on. We still need to add a trim at the top.... but now that hunting season has started it will probably be January before that is done.... aaahhh the life being married to a hunter.
