DIY Farmhouse Curtain Rod

Let's talk curtain rods. Have you checked out curtain rods lately? They are crazy high!

I found some on Amazon I liked but they were $20 each. With all the windows in our house this was definitely out of my budget. So I started looking around Pinterest and TikTok for some ideas. Over on Tiktok LifeOnWillowCreek shared how she used wooden dowels for curtain rods. I loved the look!

So off to Lowe's I went in search of a wooden dowel rod. I decided to use this one which ran about $5 each.

Now here is where you can choose what look you prefer. The dowel can be painted or stained any color you want. The options are endless!

I decided to stick with the same stain I used on other things in our home and stained my rods Early American.

Now what was I going to use to attach these to wall? I'm glad you asked! Look at these cute leather pieces from Amazon. These would be perfect for the look I was going for.

Once hung up you can do one of two things. Hang the curtain on it the way it is or use some cute rings. In our bathroom my curtains were a little shorter than I wanted them to be so I went with the rings to add some length. In the rest of the house though I choose to just hang the curtains as is.

This picture looks so dark but hopefully you can get an idea of the look.

The total cost for ended up being about $8 per window. Definitely more budget friendly but I also like the uniqueness of it.
