New On The Farm

One of the first things Dustin did after getting out of the Marines was buy a few bee hives. I will never forget that day. At the time I knew absolutely nothing about honeybees. And I didn't even like honey. Crazy, right?! But watching those bees buzz around was mesmerizing. 

Those first little bees were what led me to naming my Etsy Store Buzy Bee Design Company. Because like them this B (for Beth) felt like I was always buzzing around from one task to the next. Where the honey bees revolve around their queen, I guess my life isn't much different except the queen my life revolves around is a feisty little red head. 

Since that sunny April day in 2011 my love for honey bees has definitely blossomed. I love their honey but I also still just enjoy watching them and sitting among them. 

Over the years there have been other hives and several lost due to weather and one to a bear. But this week we added a new hive to the farm. 

Its funny how something so simple can bring so much joy. 

This go around I would like to learn how to do more than just harvest honey. I may bee a little older and may bee a little wiser (see what I did there? lol)but there is still much to learn. 

Till that time comes I will just enjoy watching them and listening to them buzz.
