Miranda The Avion's cabinets had been painted by the previous owners and we all agreed they needed a fresh coat of paint.
Here is a quick reminder of the before:
When we remodeled our 1940's home I wanted to lighten up our kitchen. So I choose a light blue paint for the cabinets:

There is just something about this blue color that I love. So when talking about our plans for Miranda I said I would like to paint the bottom cabinets in the kitchen area blue. Dustin and Maddie agreed to that idea.
No trip to Lowe's is complete with out a walk thru of the "Oops" Paint section. On one of those walk thrus Dustin scored a gallon of Valspar cabinet paint. It was not the exact shade of blue I had in mind but for the price I was definitely willing to give it a try.
So Maddie and I set to work one day putting a first layer on. Now let me tell you this type of paint is oil based and very runny (
in my opinion) so it was best to put on a light coat knowing that I would be putting on multiple coats.
Once we got the blue on I loved it. But kinda like the story if you Give You Mouse A Cookie..... Well if you let Beth paint one thing... she's going to want to paint more.
And that was the begging of the end.
I had washed the walls down and they were very clean but an off white almost yellowish color from age. --> I didn't notice how almost dirty the color was till I got the fresh paint on the lower cabinets. Then I took some white paint and painted it on the wall where I knew the bed would cover it up.
Needless to say there was a big difference in the colors. And the white just made it look so clean and crisp.
But white? In a camper? I know what happens when we camp... dirt, mud... you name it. Do I really want to stress about keeping white clean?
Yeah what the heck. Why not! Let's farmhouse style Miranda up!
And that is pretty much what we did.
We prepped. We sanded. We cleaned. We painted. And then we painted some more. Me and my 8 year old side kick. Anytime I say this was a family project I just can't stress enough how much that is true. Maddie was right in the mix of things doing more than her fair share of the work.
We worked in the camper when we could and on days when it was to hot I removed the cabinets and we painted them in the shade of our carport.
And on days when it rained we moved the painting into the basement.
I'm not going to lie painting Miranda took some time. But we painted around life. Meaning - hey we have to be at so in so at 3 that gives us an hour to paint. But a little bit here and a little bit there and we had it done!
And see doesn't the fresh white look so much better in contrast?
Here is the front of Miranda The Avion with the fresh coat of paint and bed frame in:
