In our house we call this the One-Cuppa Cobbler. It started out as a fire house dessert Dustin would make on shift he likes using blueberries or strawberries.
I have changed it up in that we live in Apple Country! So it only made sense to make this with apples and let me tell you it is so good! No mussy fruit just crisp apples!
Without further delay let's get started.
What you will need:
- Cast Iron Skillet
- 1 Stick of Butter
- 1 Cup of Milk
- 1 Cup of Sugar
- 1 Cup Self Rising Flower
- Cinnamon
- 3 to 4 apples (depending on size of the apple you may need more or less) I prefer to use Honeycrisp or September Wonder's but any crisp apple will do.
- Vanilla Ice Cream
Let's Bake:
- Get out that cast iron skillet and preheat your oven to 370 degrees.
- Once the oven is heated put one stick of butter in the skillet and put it in the oven till the butter is melted (usually about 5 minutes)
- Peel your apples, slice them up and dice the slices into cubes.
- I keep the peels and cores for our goats and horses - have chickens? They love apples to!
- Once butter is melted add the following to the skillet
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup self rising flower
- cut up apples
- sprinkle in cinnamon
- Cook for 30 minutes and then check it. I like the top of my cobbler to be a little crispy so I check it at 30 minutes but typically cook it about 45 minutes before it is done.
- Once done sprinkle a little more cinnamon on top, scoop some out and serve with vanilla ice cream
This dessert is so easy but is the perfect fall dessert and is sure to impress any guests you may have over!
